Wrightwood Volunteer Counselors
Camp Wrightwood is primarily run by a volunteer counseling staff. Our Camp Community is an extension of the Global Christian Family. Our staff and campers reflect the diversity of the Southern California community that we serve.
Previous youth ministry, camp ministry, or teaching experience is not required. A patient mind, open heart, and willingness to learn are far more important.
We recognize that there are many ways to grow in faith and community. All staff applicants who can live the values of a loving, supportive, and socially engaged Christian community are welcome. Every Staff applicant must undergo a Ministry Safe background check and training prior to working in our program. All training is remote with the exception of the night before camp.
A dedicated and supportive adult can greatly reduce the rate of suicide and the feeling of loneliness in the life of a child. Our volunteers provide a sense of belonging which is defined as a feeling of security and support when there is a sense of acceptance, inclusion, and identity for a member of a certain group. It is when an individual can bring their authentic self to this space. Here at Wrightwood we strive to cultivate this sense of belonging and community and that cultivation starts with our volunteer staff.
